Remaining on Hiatus

It’s been a full year since I started the zHeightgeist podcast. I took a community education course on how to organize and manage it, took a chance on some (unnecessary) equipment, and took a lot of effort and care in making as quality a product as I’m capable of. I wanted it to sound nice, get the information out there, and be as accessible to outsiders as it was inviting to insiders.

I got a lot of great feedback from listeners, and some people popped out of the woodwork to share encouragement. That was what I’d hoped would happen: finding Size fans who hadn’t found the community yet, and meeting people who were under the Size umbrella but in other silos. The whole thing was an exciting project, and I’m proud of how it turned out.

I wrapped season one up at twelve episodes, and I thought I’d pick it up again this winter, but no. I’ve said everything I need to say, and the thought of starting up the engines and the time commitment doesn’t bring me a sense of joy. I think it’s good where it stands. I know people want more, and I’m grateful for that, but as of this time I’m not motivated to continue. That could change in the future, maybe I’ll surprise people with a few random episodes here and there.

I’ve said what I needed to say, and people have had plenty of suggestions of what they’d like me to say. Rather, it’s my earnest hope they find their voice and make themselves heard, represent their own interests and identities. To be the representative voice of a community was never my intention—and I’m not even part of any community, anymore. All I desire is speak for myself, and I urge and encourage others to do the same.

Thank you very much for listening. The episodes will remain up, so go back and listen to them, and please share them with anyone you think might be interested.

In her shadow,

Aborigen
